Welcome to the Mood Questionnaire.
This Mood Questionnaire—also known as the Mood Disorder Questionnaire—was
developed by Robert M. A. Hirschfeld, MD, and first published in the American Journal
of Psychiatry. It provides a quick and easy way for doctors to identify patients
who are most likely to have bipolar disorder. It is a good screening instrument for bipolar
disorder; however, it is not a substitute for your doctor's judgment or advice. Those
who screen positive on the tool should receive a full clinical evaluation for bipolar
disorder. Even if the results are negative, if you suspect you or your loved one is experiencing symptoms of bipolar disorder, please see your doctor as soon as possible.
Regardless of your results, we encourage you to make an appointment with a qualified health care professional to
discuss your symptoms.
This questionnaire is designed for screening purposes only and is not to be used for
diagnosis.
